Piccolo Exhibit Reception May, 2007
Last night we had the opening reception for the Charleston Kids with Cameras’ Piccolo Spoleto exhibit. The event was a complete success! Most of the kids were there as well as their parents, the mentors, and members of the Charleston community. I spoke with one family that made the drive from Pawley’s Island just for the reception! There was a viewing of an excerpt from the documentary that’s now being edited and a slide show of the student’s and mentor’s photography from the project. The kids had a blast, and I can’t begin to explain the sense of accomplishment they have in seeing their photography on display. The photos themselves? Unbelievable. It is definitely worth a trip to the library to see for yourself. Thank you to everyone who has made this a reality. Please stay tuned for photos from the event.
The exhibit is at the main branch of the Charleston County Public Library. It includes 40 of the students photographs which will be on display until June 16. The photos are for sale for a $50 donation. If you are interested in purchasing, please contact Natalie Todd at 843-270-2613. The exhibit will be open to the public during the library’s regular hours: Monday-Thursday, 9am-9pm; Friday and Saturday 9am-6pm; Sunday 2pm-5pm.
